Are you failing your obligation to your client and to your business by being just an order taker? There’s something noble about upselling … it’s adding value to the event. Pat Aheasy has a great post on the subject.

Moving from a corporate setting (client relationship manager) to entrepreneur (bridal consultant), Pat Aheasy is correct.
I’ve always said “Give the customer what he asks for, he’ll be happy. Give the customer what they need, and they’ll be back” It’s about being intuitive to your client’s needs versus their perceived needs. Sometimes, that line will be blurred, but it’s the event consultant’s responsiblity and duty to know the difference.
By the way – just came across your blog and I look forward to reading more of your material….
Make it a great day,
Heather
