Here’s video one in a series designed to show you how to attract more clients using Facebook. This strategy is not for big companies that sell products globally (but it can be adapted to fit) I designed it to help service business owners and professional services providers.
One of the major drivers for this strategy is “social proof.” The concept of social proof was developed and popularized by Dr. Robert Cialdini. I highly recommend his classic book, “Influence: Science and Practice.”
Facebook makes it easy to gather, display and spread customer testimonials. The Facebook platform makes testimonials more credible as each one includes a photograph of the endorser and their full name.
In this first video I’ll show you why having a smart Facebook Fan Page marketing strategy is critical. Don’t start your fan page until you master the strategies and principles in this series.

Some interesting points Brian but using examples of people dying is a bit off putting
Andy … I agree. I hope I didn’t send the wrong message here. I was trying to get across how incredibly powerful “Social Proof” can be. It’s a basic human drive that has been responsible for tragedies, market bubbles and more. The example of copy-cat behavior I used may have been in poor taste and I apologize if I’ve offended anyone. Thanks Andy for pointing that out.
The copy-cat suicide story is explained here. Further information is on this Wikipedia page.
My only point in bringing it up was to make readers aware that if this basic human drive can be misguided to produce bad results – it can certainly be harnessed to influence for good.
I’m looking forward to your next segments in this series.
Hi Brian,
I was really looking forward to seeing your new video. Unfortunately I can’t see any video on this page. Can you suggest why?
Also, I already have a facebook page so would like to know if your advice might still help me out.

Hi Laura,
Here’s a link to the same video on YouTube. I embedded a Viddler video on the blog – maybe that’s the bug. Thanks for letting me know – I’ve added the YoutUbe link to the post as well.
Yes – if you already have a fan page a lot of what follows will help – but some won’t. But the good news is you can have more than one Fan Page – so all is not lost.
I just became a fan!
I’m wondering if there are lists out there that can put you in touch with those that make the decision on production and event decorating companies. Is there a place to find out who has event management RFPs out besides local CVBs (i.e. for corporate)?
I will contact BizBash and EventSolutions – I think they have the lists you need. Please follow up with me in a day or so.
Thanks Brian. I can see the video now.
Thanks for becoming a fan!

Thanks Brian– I’ll check back.
