Keywords Matter! Facebook Fan Page Alert!

Before you set up your Facebook Fan Page … make sure you’ve done your keyword research!

You want to name your fan page with your brand and your keywords. Your brand is useless at attracting customers who haven’t heard of you!

I just did a quick search for an article in which I use wedding dj’s as an example. I checked out Google and was astounded.

Keyword: wedding djs – over 90,000 monthly searches

Keyword: weddings dj – 3,600 monthly searches

Just by misplacing your “s” you’d lose out on a ton of potential customers.

So – don’t guess or assume you know the best keywords to optimize for … go over to Google’s free Keyword Tool and find the right keywords.

Absolutely! I did that very same thing and grabbed a desirable URL for my facebook fan page. It was crazy that it was still available – suggesting to me that many have not thought to do this. Yet, it’s probably the next best thing to having thought to create a SEO based URL way back in the last century when the internet was the new gold rush, because it seems to me that Facebook gets itself showing up high in search engine results, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see http://www.facebook.com/newyorkweddingphotographer come up when people are searching for a wedding photographer in New York!

  2. Nice job! By building links to your Facebook page you can get it to rank higher … it may take fewer links to get this page in the top ten SERPS than it would to promote a regular website.
